Generally, patients scheduled for an abdominal ultrasound should be fasted for 8-12 hours prior to ultrasound appointment. Water can be offered until 1-2 hours prior to the ultrasound. Patients scheduled for echocardiogram only are not required to be fasted. Sedation may occasionally be required to complete imaging studies, and patient temperament/compliance should be considered in each individual case.
During the ultrasound, tissue sampling may be beneficial to aid in a diagnosis. In this instance, it is helpful to know if the client has approved aspirates or biopsies prior to the examination so that we are able to obtain those promptly.
All associated fees will be billed directly through the referring clinic on a monthly basis. Estimates and fees for specific cases can be discussed in advance upon request.
